How should you practise listening?

First listen for the situation and the speaker’s purpose. Listen again for the requested details. Only then open the transcript and compare what you heard. Finish with a short spoken confirmation. Replaying without a question can make a dialogue familiar without showing which information you understood.

The six dialogues below are original practice texts for everyday situations. Each has normal and slower synthesized German audio. A single voice reads both turns; this helps focus on the words but does not recreate the variety, overlap or background noise of a natural conversation. The A2–B1 label describes the intended practice audience, not a certified assessment.

What to do when you miss a detail

  • Choose one question before replaying, such as the final time or required item.
  • Use the slower version to locate the phrase, then return to normal pace.
  • Say a confirmation: Also Donnerstag um zehn Uhr dreißig, mit Ausweis.
  • In a real exchange, ask for clarification instead of guessing: Könnten Sie die Uhrzeit bitte wiederholen?

Track one main point and two details from a new dialogue on another day. Reading the transcript first is reading practice; for listening practice, keep it closed until after your attempt. These public tasks do not produce an app score or exam result.
